Description

Abraham Lincoln Signed Judicial Appointment. One partially printed page, 20 1/2 x 15 3/4 inches (sight), Washington, D.C.; June 2, 1863. Matted and framed to an overall size of 22 x 17 inches. Appointment of Elmer Dundy as "an Associate Justice of the Supreme court for the Territory of Nebraska." Blind embossed seal at the lower left. Signed, "Abraham Lincoln," and countersigned by Frederick W. Seward as Acting Secretary of State. Seward's father, William H. Seward, was Secretary of state, but was tending to international affairs at the time this appointment was signed.

Condition: Not examined outside the frame. Lightly toned with smoothed folds. A few very light stains. One small separation in the center at the top fold.
