Description

Abraham Lincoln: Presidential Appointment. 18 ½" x 15" [sight] document appointing E. M. Shield of Cincinnati as "Supervising Inspector of Steam Boats", signed by Abraham Lincoln and Salmon Chase. Embossed seal of the Department of the Treasury. Document folded in twelfths, barely affecting the "A" in "Abraham". Dark, bold signatures. Matted together with a Buttre engraving of Lincoln. Donald P. Dow designed the frame which was produced by Newcomb Macklin of Chicago. It is of the highest quality. Overall size is 43" x 28".
