Abraham Lincoln Political Appointment Signed. One partially-printed page, 15" x 10.25" (sight), Washington, August 8, 1862, appointing "Reuben Rockwell, of Colebrook, Ct. . . . Assessor of Taxes for the fourth Collection District of the State of Connecticut." Countersigned by Salmon P. Chase as secretary of the treasury. Blind embossed seal of the Treasury Department near the lower edge. Beautifully matted and framed to an overall size of 22.5" x 18.25".
