Description

Abraham Lincoln: Note Signed as Republican Presidential Nominee in 1860. 5" x 8" note, written in the hand of John Nicolay, Lincoln's private secretary, and signed by the candidate. Springfield, Illinois, June 18, 1860, in full: "John M. Burt Esq. Dear Sir - Herewith I send you my autograph, as you desire. Yours truly [signed] A. Lincoln." Matted and framed, together with a book plate engraving of a beardless Lincoln, to an overall size of 18" x 15". Donald Dow designed the frame which was produced by Newcomb Macklin of Chicago.
