Description
Abraham Lincoln Military Appointment Signed "Abraham Lincoln". One partially printed page, 13.75" x 17.5" (sight), Washington, D.C.; July 15, 1864. The president appoints "James G. Hall...Captain in the Signal Corps in the service of the United States." Countersigned by Edwin M. Stanton as Secretary of War. With the green seal of the War Office in the upper left and handsome engraved military and patriotic vignettes. The appointment has been trimmed at the top in an arch pattern, removing the docket. Matted and framed along with an image of Lincoln to the overall size of 29.75" x 24.5".Condition: The appointment has been trimmed at the top to match the pattern of the mat, removing the docket. Flattened folds. Light toning, with minor fading to the ink. Lincoln's signature is still very clear. Overall very good.
