Abraham Lincoln Military Appointment Signed "Abraham Lincoln". One vellum page, partially printed, 13.75" x 17.75", Washington D. C., February 7, 1862, with handsome engraved military and patriotic vignettes and countersigned by Edwin Stanton as Secretary of War, appointing "Henry C. Bankhead . . . Captain in the Fifth Regiment of Infantry in the service of the United States." With the blue seal of the War Office in the upper left. Folds, none of which affect the signatures. Fine.

Together with: Andrew Johnson Military Appointment with a stamped "Andrew Johnson" signature. One vellum page, partially printed, 15.25" x 19.25", Washington D. C., September 10, 1866, countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton (also a stamped signature). The document appoints "Henry C. Bankhead...Major by Brevet...for gallant and meritorious services at the battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania". With the blue seal of the Department of War in the upper left corner. Folds. Else fine.
