Description

Abraham Lincoln Consul Appointment Signed. One page, 17.5" x 13.75" (sight), Washington, D.C.; July 12, 1862. Lincoln nominates and appoints "Henry B. Hammond of Massachusetts...as Consul of the United States of America at Dublin." With a white paper embossed seal at lower left. Countersigned by William H. Seward as Secretary of State. Framed to an overall size of 18.5" x 14.5". Not examined outside of the frame.

Condition: Smoothed, flatted folds with some separation at center crease. Gently rubbed and toned with some soiling to bottom left corner. Minute foxing. Frame has some wear. Boldly signed by Lincoln.
