Description

Abraham Lincoln: Autographed Endorsement Signed. 8" x 10" letter, one page with integral leaf, Terre Haute, Indiana, December 17, 1863 written to President Abraham Lincoln by Richard Wigginton Thompson, former Congressman and future Secretary of the Navy. Thompson recommends the appointment of Quincy K. Underwood as Military Governor of Arkansas, partially by virtue of "... his bold advocacy of the Union & of the policy you have adopted to maintain it." The back side contains one additional endorsement, some docketing and an endorsement by Lincoln, reading: "Submitted to the Sec. of War. A. Lincoln Jan. 12, 1864". Some toning to central bi-fold . Slight smearing to Lincoln's signature. Still a fine example.
