Description

Abraham Lincoln Autograph Letter Signed "A. Lincoln". One page, 4.5" x 7", Executive Mansion [Washington D.C.], July 18, 1861. Written to the secretary of treasury, and reads in full: "My Dear Sir, The two Michigan Senators press me to appoint Arthur Edwards Supervising Inspector of Steamboats, in the 8th District. The office is kept at Detroit in their State; and unless you know some reason to the contrary, which is not known to me, let the appointment be made at once." Attached integral leaf, docketed, usual transmittal folds, not affecting signature which is exceptionally nice. A very attractive letter for display.
