Description

Abraham Lincoln Autograph Endorsement Signed three times "Parker & Lincoln, p.d." No place or date (Tazewell Co., Ill.; docketed September, 1852), one page, folio, on blue paper. An incomplete document, consisting of several pleas in Amos Eggleson vs Tarrant A. Perkins. The defendant claims that he fully paid a judgment due the plaintiff and has a receipt for same, and further that, being "wholly insolvent, having no property whatever, liable to execution..." he had offered $25 "in full discharge of said judgment...", which offer the plaintiff accepted. Records show that Lincoln lost this case on 21 September 1852 when the jury found for the plaintiff in the amount of $110.45. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.
