Description

Abraham Lincoln Appointment Signed "Abraham Lincoln." One partially printed page, 16.25" x 12", Washington, D.C.; March 28, 1861. Appointing "James E. Harvey of Pennsylvania...Minister Resident of the United States of America to Portugal." Countersigned by William H. Seward as Secretary of State. With an embossed paper seal at the lower left. Harvey held this position until July 15, 1869. The document is housed in a large folio folder.

Condition: Flattened folds with uneven toning and foxing. Minor mat burn. Slight creasing around the seal. Small tear at the lower center repaired on verso. Minor adhesive residue on verso corners. Boldly signed by Lincoln.
