Description

Abraham Lincoln Appointment Signed "Abraham Lincoln." One partially printed page, 14.75" x 9.5", Washington, D.C.; May 6, 1861. Appointing "John Teesdale...Deputy Postmaster, at Des Moines, in the State of Iowa." Countersigned by William H. Seward as Secretary of State. With a blind embossed Seal of the United States at the lower left.

Condition: Flattened folds with creasing around the seal. Light toning at the edges and minor foxing. Ink smudging around Seward's signature. Adhesive residue on verso, slightly sticky. A few small separations at the folds, stabilized on verso with archival material. One strip of tape on verso at the right edge. Boldly signed by Lincoln.
