Description

Abraham Lincoln and His Cabinet: Circa 1863-1864 Autograph Album. 5 ½" x 9" custom bound album (marbled boards, ribbed spine, leather corners) titled "Signatures of Abraham Lincoln and His Cabinet". The binding apparently was done in the 20th century. The album itself contains signatures of Lincoln and others, assembled in 1863 and 1864. The fore edges of the pages are gilded. The first page has signatures of Abraham Lincoln, Robert Todd Lincoln and John Nicolay (not bad!). The next two facing pages have Seward, Stanton, Chase, Spinner, McCulloch and others. Gideon Welles is on a single page. Usher and Blair are on another page, the back of which has Hamlin and Forney (Clerk of the Senate). The last page has Colfax and Edward McPherson (Clerk of the House). There are eighteen signatures altogether. An exceptional album!
