Description

[Ulysses S. Grant]. Jesse R. Grant Autograph Letter Twice Signed. One page with integral blank, 5" x 8", on Executive Mansion letterhead, Washington, May 14, 1869. Addressed to an unknown recipient, eleven-year-old Jesse Root Grant II, the youngest son of President Ulysses S. Grant, writes regarding stamps, in full: "You sent me some of those stamps that I sent for and said that you would send the rest in tomorrows mail, but they have not come yet. I wish for you to send the rest." Directly below his first signature, young Grant orders the stamps be mailed to "Master Jesse R. Grant / Executiv [sic] Mansion / Washington / DC."

Condition: Smoothed folds; light soiling and staining, particularly along the upper, right, and lower edges.
