On April 1, 1976, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak approached Ronald Wayne, a software engineer they had both formerly worked with at Atari. The two men offered Wayne a spot in their new venture, Apple Computer Company, and two hours later, Wayne had signed a contract giving him ten percent ownership. Twenty years their senior, Wayne reportedly felt as if he was "the adult in the room" and only twelve days later, asked to part ways. Wayne received $800 in severance and missed out on an estimated $75 billion.
