Description

William Williams Clipped Signature "Wm Williams." One small slip, 7.5" x 2", Lebanon, Connecticut; September 28, 1774. Appears to be clipped from a larger document or petition, with other signatures. William Williams (1731-1811), a Connecticut minister and merchant, was elected as a Continental Congress delegate in 1776 to replace Oliver Wolcott, who had become ill. Williams arrived at Philadelphia too late to vote on the approval of the Declaration of Independence, but he was in time to sign the document as a Connecticut delegate.

Condition: Flattened folds. Toned throughout, with minor soiling in places. Bold signature.
