Description

William Ellery Autograph Docket Signed. Removed from a larger document, 7" x 3.25", Newport, Rhode Island; September 19, 1790. A docket certifying that "John Tillinghart, Port of Newport/Sept. 19th 1790. Sworn to and a duplicate delivered according to Law." Mounted on card stock.

William Ellery was a Declaration of Independence signer representing Rhode Island, and later became the first customs collector of Newport, Rhode Island. He served in this position until his death in 1820.

Condition: Toning throughout, light chipping and minor paper loss along edges. A few small tears at edges, do not affect the signature. Slight mounting residue on verso of card stock. Overall very fine.
