Description
Signer of the Declaration of Independence Charles Carroll of Carrollton Document Signed. One partially printed page, 8 x 13 3/8 inches; Maryland; April 30, 1808. Agreement on behalf of Charles Carroll of Carrollton to "grant a lease to John Laundringer for ninety-nine years, renewable forever...and the said John Laundringer engages to pay to the said Charles Carroll twenty seven dollars, 37 1/2 cents annually...as a rent for said premises, clear of all deductions..." Signed, "Ch. Carroll of Carrollton" and countersigned by John Laundringer and witnesses. Endorsed on verso with a note of transfer of land from Laundringer to Lisburn Evans on February 25, 1829.Condition: Toning, and flattened folds with separations just starting along upper left and right margins. Prior complete separation of document horizontally down center, affecting text, with three pieces of tape and previous reinforcement remnants present. Small chip at center left and upper left margins, as well as a small chip at bottom right margin. A few scattered stains, and pencil notations at center left and center top margins of recto.
