Description
John Ross Autograph Addressed Envelope Signed, "Jno. Ross". One page, 11" x 7.75", n.d., n.p. The folded envelope is addressed in Ross's hand to the "Honbl. Louis Riley, Judge of the Dist. Court, Canadian Dist., Cherokee Nation". Soiled and weak at the folds, the envelope has seal tears and remnants of previous mounting on the verso, else very good.More Information:
John Ross, also known as Kooweskoowe, was Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation from 1828 to 1860. Ross has been described as the Moses of his people, having led the Nation through tumultuous years of development and the forced relocation to Oklahoma.
