Description

John Jay Signed Military Appointment. One partly printed page, 15.5" x 9.75"; Albany; January 23, 1800. Governor John Jay appoints Jedediah Gaylord to the rank of Lieutenant in the regiment of militia in the County of Delaware. Signed "John Jay," with blind embossed seal at left. Not examined out of the frame.

Jay served as the second governor of New York from 1795 until 1801.

Condition: Evenly toned, with flattened folds and light staining along left margin. Light creasing, more so in the areas surrounding the seal. Frame shows light wear.
