John Augustine Washington Document Signed and countersigned by William Augustine Washington. One page, 7.5" x 6", August 1, 1777, n.p., partly printed. This partly printed promise to pay "Mr. James Sorrell . . . fifty Six pounds five Shillings currency on demand." Toned with some separation at folds; very good.

More Information:

John Augustine Washington (1736-1787), a pre-Revolutionary War politician, was the brother of George Washington. During the war he was a member of Westmoreland County's Committee of Safety. William Augustine Washington (1789-1840), who served as a lieutenant colonel during the revolution, was the son of Augustine Washington, the older brother of George Washington and John Augustine Washington.
