Description

Governor P. H. Bell Signed Land Grant. Single oversized vellum sheet, 15" x 12.75". Austin; November 3, 1842. A grant of land issued to "William and Thomas Barton, assignees of Peyton Byrne & heirs" for 320 acres in Milam district in McLennan County. Possibly a land bounty for service in the army. There is a Paton Byrne listed in the military rolls as serving during the Texas Revolution under Sterling C. Robertson. From the Robert E. Davis Collection.
Condition: Gently toned, with two ink stains.
