Description
George Walton Document Signed as Chief Justice of Georgia. One partially printed page, 7 1/2 x 12 1/8 inches; Liberty County, Georgia; no date. A petition to the Superior Court of Georgia by "George Moore late of the Parish of Saint Andrew now County of Liberty" addressing the issue of debt owed to him by "...George Beaird late of the parish of Saint John now County of Liberty... in the Sum of Fifty Pounds good and lawful Money..." Document ends with a court summons for Beaird to "appear before the Justices of the Superior Court...on the Second Tuesday in April next, then and there to answer your Petitioner in an Action of Debt and so forth." Signed, "Geo Walton, Chf Justice."Condition: Flattened folds, evenly toned, and a few stray ink stains on recto and verso. Walton's signature is lightly smudged but still very legible.
