Daniel Webster Autograph Letter Signed "Yrs. D Webster". One page, 5" x 8", n.d., n.p., to Judge Joseph Story concerning something that "discouraged" him and made him "sick". Toned with smoothed folds; fine.More Information:
Webster (1782-1852), a leading antebellum statesman and orator from New England, writes in part vaguely: "I am discouraged. This 'shipment', if I understand yr. note of last evening, makes me sick. I feel like letting all things take their course -- & go to us -- their own way." The recipient, "Judge Story" is written on the front fold leaf with no address, suggesting delivery that day.
