Description

Benjamin Franklin Document Signed "B Franklin", one page, 15.75" x 14", Pennsylvania, May 9, 1787. This vellum document is an official declaration awarding land to a John Davidson and listing the amount he paid the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for it. The land was called "John's Fancy" and it was near Newton Township. Land patents were issued in the thirteen original colonies and afterwards for tracts of land. Apart from ownership this patent also includes the rights of first-title deed and final certificate. In the United States, all property can be traced back to its original patent and in some cases back to the original foreign country of ownership such as France or Spain. Franklin signed this document as President of the Supreme Executive Council. The document is in fine condition, with usual folds present, light soiling on both sides, and slight fading to the signature. Original seals still intact.
