Benjamin Franklin Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 7.25" x 8"; Philadelphia; May 1, 1747. brief letter regarding financial matters: "This is only to cover a Bill of Exchange for Eleven Pounds 2s. 2½d. Sterl. drawn on Richd. Atkinson of Colthouse by Wm. Satterthwaite and to inform you that we are all well, as I hope this will find you and yours. I am Your most humble Servant / B Franklin." Franklin adds a postscript: "This via New York. Copy with first Bill and Letter of Advice via Boston by the Mermaid Man of War." The original wax seal if affixed below Franklin's signature.

Included in the Franklin Papers compiled by The American Philosophical Society and Yale University, and listing the possible recipient as William Strahan, a Scottish printer and publisher and lifelong friend of Franklin's. Their relationship soured during the years of the Revolutionary War, but they reconciled at its conclusion.

Condition: The letter is mounted onto wooden board of the same size, and has heavy toning and mat burn.
