Description

Alexander Hamilton Signed Land Deed. One partially-printed page, 16" x 20", New York, May 23, 1804, an indenture transferring a deed of "seventy four acres, three roods, twenty one perches" to David Sheneer of Hillsdale. Along with Hamilton's signature and seal are those of his wife Elizabeth Hamilton, his father-in-law Philip Schuyler, Philip I. Schuyler of Rhinebeck, John B. Church and his wife Angelica (Elizabeth's sister), and Philip Schuyler Younger.

Just seven weeks later, Alexander Hamilton would be killed in a duel with Aaron Burr, on July 11, 1804.

Condition: Professional restoration has added paper where loss has occurred (at center where folds created weakness, and at edges). Additional mending at folds where separation has occurred. Areas of dampstaining and transfer staining from seals.
