[Revolutionary War]. William Carmichael Autograph Letter Signed While Diplomatic Representative for Spain. Two pages of a bifolium, 7.5" x 9.25", Madrid, January 9, 1781, to Ricardo (Richard) Harrison American Consul in Cadiz. Carmichael has signed the letter "W.C." The letter contains much war content including a mention of British General Leslie's movements in South Carolina; the defeat of Major Ferguson at King's Mountain and diplomatic tidbits.

Condition: Lightly toned with old smoothed fold creases; damp staining along the left edge not significantly affecting text. Pencil notations below signature on second page of the bifolium. Hole at the left margin of the third page.

Provenance: From the Private Collection of a Mississippi Gentleman.
