[Civil War] Cassius M. Clay Document Signed. One page, 7.75" x 9.75", Washington D.C., April 25, 1861. A partly-printed document certifying Gilman Marston as a member of "Cassius M. Clay's Battalion." With vignettes of three flags flanking an eagle atop a shield. Toned edges and flattened folds.Gilman Marston had been serving as Congressman for New Hampshire in the Thirty-sixth Congress when he enlisted to serve in Clay's battalion.
