Description

Squire Boone Autograph Document Signed. One page, 4 x 2 ½ inches, no place; March 29, 1788. A document in which Boone promises to pay Mr. Waker thirteen dollars. Signed, "Squire Boone." This promissory note was executed during Boone's failed attempt to establish a settlement in Mississippi. Docketed on verso.

Like his more famous brother, Daniel Boone, Squire was a key leader in American pioneering and exploration. He played a significant role in the settlement of Kentucky.

Condition: Lightly toned with light foxing. Paper loss along the right margin, affecting the last letter of each line of text and the last "e" in Boone's signature.

Provenance: From the Private Collection of a Mississippi Gentleman.
