Description

Sam Houston Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 7.5" x 9.25"; Washington; January 9, 1852. A letter written by Houston during his tenure as Senator from Texas, to Riva Griffith Owen regarding a lecture he hoped to schedule in Philadelphia. In part: "I expected to be in New York on the 18th Feby. and intended to be at Phila. and Lecture on my way either going, or returning..." Boasting a large signature, "Sam Houston." Matted alongside an engraving of Houston to an overall size of 21.5" x 16".

Condition: The letter has a few spots of foxing, with bold ink and light toning. A piece of paper has come loose and covers part of the engraving.
