    Description
Republic of Texas 1838 Land Deed. Two pages of a bifolium, 8" x 12.5", Harrisburg County, Texas; February 5, 1838. James Lindsey signed over "all my right, title, interest and claim, in and to twelve hundred and eighty acres bounty land, acquired by Eighteen months services in the Army of Texas" to Clark L. Owen, for a payment of $320. Both Lindsey and Owen served in the Army of Texas. Signed with a mark at the conclusion by Lindsey and by others. A statement and certificate of record are present on the second page, with the certificate being adhered onto the page. With a green paper seal. Docketing on verso. The deed has flattened folds, with small separations and tears at folds. Toning throughout. Worn corners. As mentioned, the certificate has been adhered to the second page of the bifolium, with minor adhesive staining. Light soiling. Light ink bleed through. All proceeds to benefit educational programs at The Bryan Museum.Auction Info
