Description
Yuri Gagarin Signed Postcard. 4 x 5 3/4 inches, issued May 24, 1961. A postcard featuring a color photograph of Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in military uniform. Signed by Gagarin in Cyrillic, in blue ink at the left margin, "Gagarin." This postcard was issued just one month after Gagarin became the first person to go into outer space on April 21, 1961.At the bottom, a printed caption reads (in Russian): "The first person to enter space was a citizen of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Hero of the Soviet Union, USSR pilot-cosmonaut Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin." With Gagarin's signature printed in facsimile below. Postcard unengrossed on the verso.
Condition: Very lightly toned with minor edgewear, including a few light creases.
