Description

Winston Churchill Photograph Signed. 13" x 11.75" (sight). This photograph was taken on November 24, 1954, by New Zealand-born photographer Douglas Glass as one of a series taken in celebration of the prime minister's eightieth birthday (six days later). Churchill, who was in the last months of his second and final term as prime minister, is seen sitting in the Cabinet Room at Number 10 Downing Street, two broadcast microphones sitting on the desk before him, conjuring up images of the great man during World War II. Below his image he has written his signature in bold ink. Minor foxing exists near the signature.

Alfred George Douglas Glass (1901-1978) immigrated to the U.K. in 1928 and was a photographer for the United Nations before producing the series, "The Portrait Gallery," for the Sunday Times from 1949 until 1961.

Condition: The photograph is matted and framed to an overall size of 20.75" x 19.5".
