Description

King Philip IV of Spain Document Signed, "Yo el Rey", four integral pages with writing only on page one, 8" x 12", Madrid, June 27, 1721, in Spanish. The document has an embossed seal of the Kingdom of Spain at the bottom of the first page. Light browning at the edges. Near fine. Sold with a later print of an engraving of Philip IV. King Philip IV was idealized by his contemporaries as the model of Baroque kingship. Outwardly he maintained a bearing of rigid solemnity, and was seen to laugh only three times in the course of his entire public life.
