Description
King Ferdinand II and Queen Isabella I Documents Signed. The first, one page, 9" x 11" (sight), July 5, 1506, signed by Ferdinand "Yo el Rey," conferring upon Don Juan Enriquez the habit of the Order of Santiago. Isabella had died two years earlier and, at the time of the signing, Ferdinand was struggling for control of Castile with the Castilian nobility. Two cut cancellations. Folds with some minor water damage along the left edge, not affecting the text. Small tear at the right edge. The second document, one page, 12" x 8.25" (sight), July 30, 1502, signed by Isabella "Yo la Reyna," instructs Sancho de Paredes, her chamberlain, to "...give the four tunics in your care given to me in June by the sister of the Bishop of America to the chamberlain of my Lord the King." Light to moderate staining through the center, but not obscuring the text. Smoothed folds. Minor damage to upper right corner.
Both documents are matted with portraits of the monarchs and framed to an overall size of 55" x 23.75".
