Description
Joachim Napoleon Murat Signed Document, "Joachim Napoleon", one page, 10.75" x 16", partially printed on vellum, Naples, January 10, 1809, in Italian. The document has the embossed seal of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies at the bottom, an engraving of the royal seal at the top center, and a stamped seal at the top left. Joachim Napoleon, as King of the Two Sicilies, Prince and Grand Admiral of France, names Adamo Santelli as Prosecutor of the Royal Tribunal of Appeals in Lanciano. Wear at the folds and light foxing, else, near very fine.More Information: The document proclaims Joachim Napoleon as king of the Two Sicilies "per la Grazia di Dio" (by the Grace of God), in reality, he was king due to his being Napoleon Bonaparte's brother-in-law. After Bonaparte's fall, Joachim fled to Corsica. During an attempt to regain Naples he was arrested by the forces of his rival, Ferdinand IV of Naples, and executed by firing squad in 1815.
