Description

George III, King of Great Britain, Document Signed, "George R." One page front and verso, partially printed on vellum, 13.75" x 9.5", St. James, London, December 5, 1764. The document is a commission naming Gerret Fisher, Gentleman, as a lieutenant the Fifty-Fifth [Westmoreland] Regiment of Foot under the command of Colonel William Gansell. The document is countersigned by John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich. The king's signature in the upper left corner lacks contrast. The document has folds, soiling, and a stamp from a previous collection on the verso. The document retains remnants of the red wax embossed seal.
