Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor, Document Signed "Yo el Rey" as Charles III, King of Spain. Four integral pages, 8.5" x 12", in Spanish (not translated), Vienna, February 16, 1715. The document is addressed to Principe Conde de Daun, Captain General del Reyno de Naples. Charles claimed the Spanish throne as Charles III during the War of Spanish Succession. When the new Kingdom of Great Britain withdrew support from Charles and recognized Philip of Anjou as the legitimate claimant to throne of Spain, Charles lost his Spanish territories, with the exception of the Kingdom of Naples, the Duchy of Milan, and the Kingdom of Sardinia. Charles succeeded his brother as Holy Roman Emperor in 1711, but continued to press his case for the Habsburg Spanish succession maintaining a Spanish court in exile in Vienna. The document bears a small paper and wax seal with the embossed arms of Charles as Holy Roman Emperor. The document has folds, some soiling, minor foxing, and paper loss at the folds with two stamps from a previous collection. The document is sold with a contemporary engraving of Charles as Holy Roman Emperor and King of Spain. W.C. Putnam Collection Davenport Public Museum stamp on the verso.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
