Sergeant Clemente de la Garza Five Autograph Letters Signed. Most letters have four integral pages written on pages one and two, all 6.25" x 7.75", various dates (October 12, 1829 - January 1, 1832). Even toning, some stains, and one letter with pages separated, else, very good. The content of the letters ranges from personal to military. Military topics include better conditions for troops and new regulations regarding insignia. Sergeant Clemente is descended from another Clemente de la Garza who helped develop the presidial system in northern Mexico. He is also descended from Francisco de la Garza, a missionary who served at Nacogdoches and founded the mission at Refugio. From the Taking of Texas Collection.
