Description
Robert E. Lee Signed Carte de Visite. A chest-up portrait of Lee in his Confederate uniform, measuring 2 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches (sight), framed alongside a larger photograph of Lee to an overall size of 22 x 19 inches. Signed, "R E Lee." Although this particular CDV is undated and we cannot determine if there is a backstamp, the featured portrait was originally taken in 1864 at the Richmond studio of Vannerson & Levy.Condition: Not examined out of frame. Somewhat toned and faded with minor cockling; Lee's signature remains bold and dark.
