Robert E. Lee: Signed Carte de Visite. 1865 Mathew Brady CDV, with gold-ruled borders, showing the distinguished Confederate general facing left, boldly signed below, "R E Lee". The verso has a long, period inscription indicating the photograph was taken by Brady after the surrender at Appomattox and "... Received from Richmond this evening - Thursday Sept. 7, 1865."
