Description
Robert E. Lee Carte de Visite Signed "R E Lee". 2.5" x 4". C. R. Rees and Co., Richmond, Virginia backmark. A classic image of Lee taken shortly after the war and nicely signed at the lower right corner. The reverse side bears the inscription "Presented by Gen. R. E. Lee to/ T. P. Kennedy at Lexington, Va/ Jan. 14th, 1868". Presumably the inscription is in T. P. Kennedy's hand. The image is moderately foxed and slightly faded; otherwise it is in very good condition.Auction Info
