Description

Richard Brooke Garnett Signature ("R. B. Garnett / Brig. Genl. / Comdg.") 3.5" x 1". Excised from a letter and affixed to a slightly larger backing. Following the First Battle of Kernstown in March 1862, Confederate Brigadier General Garnett narrowly missed a court martial brought by Stonewall Jackson who accused Garnett of disobeying orders. Later at the Battle of Gettysburg, Garnett's brigade missed the first two days of battle, but participated in Pickett's Charge. There, the Virginian lost his life. This signature is on lined blue paper.
