Description
Oliver Ellsworth Revolutionary War Document Signed "O. Ellsworth". One page, 8" x 6.25", June 19, 1776, Hartford. This is an order to pay Captain Abraham Mead "Five Hundred & Eighty pounds" so he can pay his "own Company" of soldiers. Countersigned by Ezra Williams and Treasurer John Lawrence. Docketed on verso; very good.More Information:
Ellsworth, a drafter of the U.S. Constitution, signs this document which reads in part: "Pay Capt. Abraham Mead - as Pay Master of his own Company none to be raise'd - Five Hundred & Eighty pounds--& charge the Colony./ Hartford, June 19th, 1776."
