Description

George Armstrong Custer: Signed Note and Carte de Visite. CDV had a Anthony/Brady, NY back mark and was taken by Brady October 8, 1863 at Brady's Washington, DC studio. Listed in Custer in Photographs as K-21. The CDV is accompanied by a note signed by Custer that reads, "Headquarters 2nd Brig 3rd Div, Oct 27 1863, Approved and respectfully forwarded G. A. Custer, Brig Genl. Comdg 2nd Brig". The note measures 3 1/4" x 2 1/2". The CDV has some old remnants on the verso, but the albumen is excellent with resonant tones. The note is in fine condition with a large bold signature. The Michael Ward Collection of Western Americana
