Confederate General Preston Smith Clipped Signature "Preston Smith/ Brig Genl". Smith was a lawyer from Tennessee who entered the Confederate army as a colonel. He was wounded at Shiloh, and during the Battle of Chickamauga, died on the battlefield after being ambushed by Union troops.
