Confederate General Daniel Ruggles Autograph Document Signed "Daniel Ruggles" as Brigadier General. 3.5" x 4". Ruggles endorses recommendations for an officer of the 1st Alabama Volunteers - a Lieutenant Colonel [Isaiah George Washington] Steedman on this undated document. Some fading to the ink with the exception of Ruggles' signature, else in very good condition.

More Information: Daniel Ruggles was already an old "war horse" by the time he entered Confederate service in 1861. The West Point graduate had previously served in the Second Seminole War and the Mexican-American War. During the Civil War Ruggles led Bragg's 1st Division at Shiloh with great skill. He later commanded the Department of East Louisiana at Jackson, Mississippi.
