Civil War: Union Naval Officer Archive. More than 20 naval documents regarding the service of Acting Ensign Oliver Swain from 1864 until his death in 1867. The documents date between 1864 and 1909; many relate to Swain's Navy pension. Includes: Gideon Welles Documents Signed (2), both war dated regarding his appointment to ensign; John Downes Letter Signed; Samuel Phillips Lee, Letters Signed (2); and much more. Many documents have additional dockets on verso by noted Admirals including Henry Thatcher. Overall near fine, with light toning and occasional soiling.
