    Civil War Notables: Group of Autographs. Consists of: (1) Autographed sentiment on small paper slip of Robert C. Schenck (Union Brigadier General, Congressman, Minister to England); (2) Autographed closing of Bayard Taylor on album fly leaf (poet, author, journalist); (3) 1866 ALS of Schuyler Colfax (Speaker of the House, Vice President under U. S. Grant) with front panel of free franked transmittal envelope (loss to letter "S"); and (4) One page 1868 ALS of Joseph Henry (scientist, inventor, first President of the Smithsonian Institution) inviting people to a scientific lecture at the Smithsonian.
